Power to the People: Use your voice, change the world

Danny Sriskandarajah

Think you have to accept the status quo? This book will make you think again. YOU have the power the change the world.

POWER TO THE PEOPLE is a radical blueprint for change in a world in which democracy feels under attack, inequality is rising, the climate crisis is deepening, and digital technologies are undermining community cohesion. Danny Sriskandarajah, CEO of the New Economics Foundation and former CEO of Oxfam GB, offers us the antidote to apathy by highlighting the inspiring stories of ordinary people taking on the biggest challenges of our time. From giving democracy a participatory makeover to public ownership of social media spaces, and from re-energising co-operatives to creating a people's chamber at the United Nations, this thought-provoking book is packed full of ideas for how we can reclaim our power - and change the world.

'Upbeat, empowering, alive with the possibilities of civic action and vibrant with examples from the past . . . One of the things that makes his book stand out is the depth of [Danny's] global expertise' Zoe Williams, Guardian

'a timely reminder that people shape economies, that inequality is far from inevitable, and that we must work collectively - business, government, and citizens - to build a brighter future where all can thrive' Paul Polman, former CEO of Unilever and co-author of Net Positive

'After a lifetime of campaigning Danny has written a passionate, wise, inspiring and - hurray! - very entertaining book about how individuals really do have the power to change the world for the better' Richard Curtis, screenwriter and co-founder of Comic Relief
