Anita Target is a girl aged about ten. She's a bit of a smart-Alec and terribly enthusiastic about everything. She lives with her mum and dad in a small two-bedroom house. Her best friend, Nigel Cartwright, lives next door. He is in the year below her at school, even though he is only six months' younger. Against his wishes, he gets dragged along on many of her adventures. Anita loves sport and she is very, very competitive. She will not accept being beaten by anyone, no matter how big or old they are. She is always running (unless her mum makes her walk), even if it's just to the end of the road or up the stairs. She has some amazing magical trainers that allow her to look at the world in many different ways - they can take her back or forwards in time, shrink her to the size of an atom, or make her sprint at the speed of light. With the aid of the magical trainers they explore the world of science. The firset six titles in this series deals with gravity and forces; states of matter an the water cycle; electricity and electrical circuits; hearts, pumps and fitness; the eye and other sensory organs; and dinosaurs.
