After the revival of the yellowbacks, Hachette India is pleased to announce the revival of another great series for India from the Hachette stable. Hodder & Stoughton launched the BlackJacket series as an imprint in 1937. The series included about 50 titles, with an emphasis on exploration and travel traversing mainly non-fiction though they did include some fiction too. With works by over 50 authors, such as J.M. Barrie, Reginald Campbell, Janet Beith and Katherine Parker, the series brought the best of both fiction and non-fiction to readers.
This current reissue rebadged as the Hachette BlackJackets will pay tribute to the legacy of the series and will focus on a carefully curated collection of classic non-fiction with a few classics of offbeat (non-commercial, literary crossover) fiction also featuring every now and then. The original logo of the series was an extension of the Hodder & Stoughton logo at the time. The new series logo, in a nod to the original, has reconceptualised its elements into a new graphic representation that in thematic continuity with the original colophon depicts an Atlas like figure carrying a BlackJacket book on his shoulders, keeping it aloft.
