George S. Clason

George Samuel Clason (1874–1957) was an American author, soldier, and businessman born in Louisiana, Missouri. He attended the University of Nebraska and served in the United States Army during the Spanish-American War. Beginning a long career in publishing, he founded the Clason Map Company of Denver, Colorado, and published the first road atlas of the United States and Canada. He is best known for writing The Richest Man in Babylon, which went on to become a classic on personal finance. He is also known for coining the famous phrase "Pay yourself first“ and teaching timeless lessons on wealth through parables set in ancient Babylon.
