Mourning her lost lover, a woman finds herself sleepwalking at night.

Another woman, in the midst of an affair with a man whose wife is in a coma, finds herself suddenly unable to stay awake.

And a third woman finds her dreams haunted by an old rival in love.

Across the nocturnal lives of these three women, Banana Yoshimoto weaves an enchanting ghost story, with a touch of Kafkaesque surrealism.
