But UP AND RUNNING is a story about comebacks: It's about a family that at first loses faith--sometimes angrily so--then uses faith to "will" their child to live; about parents who toward the story's end return from an unraveling marriage to a solid one which they consecrate by having a new baby in midlife; and about a boy who wakes from a coma without legs and learns to live a normal life.

Throughout this is an engrossing tale told cinematically drawing the reader in from the first paragraph with a simple voice that is all the more dramatic for its understated tone.
